O álbum "Infra" (2008) de Max Richter é talvez o álbum que mais vezes ouvi. Em particular a faixa "Infra 5" tem estado nos últimos anos quase sempre nos primeiros lugares das músicas mais ouvidas no meu Spotify. Existe algo por debaixo desta sonoridade que faz mover o meu interior. Assim que começa, desligo de tudo o resto. Fico ali, atento, a tentar seguir o tom, o ritmo, os instrumentos, tentando perceber para onde vai evoluir a cada momento, aonde me vai conduzir. Hoje, resolvi voltar a pesquisar sobre o álbum e encontrei um pequeno vídeo do compositor em que explica a motivação por detrás do álbum, e depois detalha a "narrativa" que suporta a "Infra 5". Deixo a transcrição:
"So Infra is a ballet [choreographed by Wayne McGregor] based around the events of 7/7 [subway bombings in London]. And I guess the other thing that feeds into that is the psychological landscape of the wasteland, T.S. Eliot's "The Waste Land", which sets up this idea of an unreal city, this kind of hallucinatory sort of vision of a city. The music of Infra is a series of reflections on those events."
"Infra 5 is probably the most, I guess, directly representative music on the record, in the sense that you have this music which basically gets faster and faster. So, the image of people running, that's what Infra 5 is about. And there are various kinds of other things buried in the music. Like, there's sort of melodic material, which is sort of basically sirens. The violins just play these kind of siren melodies. So it sort of embodies that people running, trying to get out. So, yeah, that's Infra."
